KATHMANDU, March 8: Vote counting for the House of Representatives (HoR) election is ongoing across the country. According to the Election Commission (EC), results from 130 constituencies have been announced so far at the time of preparing this report.
Among the winners so far, 100 candidates from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), 15 from the Nepali Congress (NC), seven from the CPN-UML, five from the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), and one each from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), one from the Shram Sanskriti Party and an independent candidate have been elected. Most of the RSP candidates have secured victories with large margins.
Similarly, in the ongoing vote counting, the RSP is leading in 25 constituencies, followed by UML in three, NC in two, NCP in three, and Shram Sanskriti Party in two constituencies.
Rastriya Swantra Party
RSP prime ministerial candidate Balendra Shah has defeated former prime minister and CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli by a huge margin in Jhapa-5. Shah secured 68,348 votes, while Oli was limited to 18,734 votes, giving the RSP candidate a commanding victory margin of 49,614 votes.
From Rupandehi-3, RSP’s Dr Lekh Jung Thapa won by a margin of 50,379 votes. He secured 58,814 votes, while his nearest rival, NC candidate Sushil Gurung, received 8,435 votes.
RSP candidate Rajib Khatry has won in Bhaktapur–2, securing 42,333 votes. His closest rival, CPN-UML candidate Mahesh Basnet, collected 10,717 votes. Standing in third position, Nepali Congress candidate Kabir Rana received 8,305 votes.
RSP candidate Bipin Kumar Acharya has been elected from Dang–2. Acharya won with 43,557 votes. His closest rival, UML candidate Shankar Pokhrel, secured 15,282 votes. This is Pokhrel’s second consecutive defeat. NC candidate Kirankishor Ghimire received 11,277 votes, while NCP candidate Nirmal Acharya secured 7,080 votes.
Toshima Karki of RSP has been elected as a member of the HoR Lalitpur-3. As per the final results of the EC announced on Saturday evening, Karki won, securing 43,069 votes. This is the second time that Karki, who is a medical doctor, has won as a lawmaker from the same constituency.
In Rupandehi-2, RSP’s Sulav Kharel won by a margin of 43,689 votes. Kharel secured 56,550 votes, while his closest rival, Bishnu Prasad Paudel of UML, received 12,861 votes.
In Morang-6, RSP candidate Rubina Acharya was elected with 55,513 votes. In the same constituency, NC candidate Dr Shekhar Koirala finished second with 12,850 votes.
In Morang-4, RSP candidate Santosh Rajbanshi won with 40,833 votes. His nearest rival, NC candidate Gururaj Ghimire, received 12,818 votes.
Similarly, in Dhanusha-3, RSP candidate Manish Jha won with 43,988 votes. His closest rival, NC candidate Bimalendra Nidhi, received 16,652 votes.
In Mahottari-1, RSP’s Pramod Kumar Mahato won with 34,636 votes. His nearest rival, NCP candidate Giriraj Mani Pokharel, received 12,624 votes.
In Bara-3, RSP candidate Arbinda Sah won by a margin of 30,645 votes. His closest rival, NC candidate Farmullah Mansoor, received 10,052 votes.
In Bara-4, RSP candidate Rahabar Ansari won with 41,200 votes. His nearest rival, UML candidate Krishna Kumar Shrestha, secured 11,639 votes, a margin of 29,561 votes.
In Parsa-1, RSP candidate Buddhi Prasad Pant won with 27,274 votes, while his closest rival, UML candidate Pradeep Yadav, secured 13,030 votes.
In Kathmandu-1, RSP candidate Ranju Neupane (Darshana) was elected with 15,455 votes. Her nearest rival, NC candidate Prabal Thapa, secured 6,364 votes, giving Darshana a margin of 9,091 votes.
In Kathmandu-2, RSP’s Sunil KC won with 34,238 votes. His closest rival, NC candidate Kabir Sharma, secured 8,874 votes.
In Kathmandu-3, RSP candidate Rajunath Pandey won with 18,757 votes. His nearest rival, Kulman Ghising of Ujyalo Nepal Party, received 11,171 votes, trailing by 7,585 votes.

In Kathmandu-4, RSP candidate Pukar Bam won with 29,142 votes, defeating his nearest rival, NC candidate Sachin Timalsena, who secured 8,824 votes, by a margin of 20,318 votes.
In Kathmandu-5, RSP candidate Sasmit Pokharel won with 30,737 votes. Her nearest rival, NC candidate Pradeep Paudel, secured 9,159 votes.
Similarly, in Kathmandu-7, RSP candidate Ganesh Parajuli was elected with 27,805 votes. He received 23,823 votes more than his nearest rival, NC candidate Pramod Hari Guragain.
In Kathmandu-8, RSP candidate Biraj Bhakta Shrestha won with 24,592 votes. His closest rival, NCP candidate Suman Sayami, secured 3,217 votes.
In Kathmandu-9, RSP candidate Dol Prasad Aryal won with 35,093 votes. His nearest rival, NC candidate Nanumaiya Bastola, secured 5,460 votes.
In Kathmandu-10, RSP candidate Pradip Bista was elected with 37,469 votes. Bista secured 29,469 votes more than his nearest rival, NC candidate Himal Karki, who received 8,100 votes.
In Bhaktapur-1, RSP candidate Rukesh Ranjit won with 33,436 votes, defeating his nearest rival Prem Suwal of the Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party by 5,289 votes. Suwal secured 28,147 votes.
In Lalitpur-1, RSP candidate Buddha Ratna Maharjan won with 23,373 votes, defeating his nearest rival, NC candidate Udaya Shumsher Rana, by 9,853 votes. Rana secured 13,520 votes.
In Chitwan-2, RSP Chair Rabi Lamichhane won with 54,402 votes, defeating his nearest rival, NC candidate Mina Kumari Kharel, by a margin of 39,838 votes. Kharel received 14,564 votes. Among the elected candidates, most RSP representatives have secured victory by large margins.
Sobita Gautam of RSP won from Chitwan-3 by securing 59,277 votes. Sobita defeated her nearest rival, NCP candidate Renu Dahal, by a margin of 38,662 votes. While Sobita secured 59,000 votes, Renu received only 20,615 votes.
RSP Vice-Chair Dr Swarnim Wagle has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Tanahun-1. Dr Wagle won with 38,040 votes. His closest rival, NC candidate Govinda Bhattarai, secured 16,231 votes.
In Morang-3, RSP candidate Ganesh Karki was elected with 36,924 votes, while his closest rival, NC candidate Sunil Kumar Sharma, secured 24,354 votes.
In Jhapa-4, RSP candidate Shambhu Prasad Dhakal won the seat with 43,631 votes. His nearest competitor, UML candidate Lal Prasad Sanwa Limbu, received 11,916 votes.
Similarly, in Sarlahi-3, RSP candidate Narendra Sah Kalwar secured victory with 46,890 votes. His closest rival, NCP candidate Narayan Kaji Shrestha, obtained 13,338 votes. Sah won the seat by a margin of 33,552 votes and maintained a lead from the early stage of vote counting.
In Sarlahi-4, RSP candidate Amaresh Kumar Singh was elected with 35,688 votes. NC candidate Gagan Kumar Thapa finished second with 22,838 votes.
In Jhapa-2, RSP candidate Indira Rana Magar won with 60,110 votes. Her nearest rival, UML candidate Devaraj Ghimire, secured 11,368 votes.
In Dhanusha-4, RSP candidate Raj Kishor Mahato was elected with 48,270 votes. His closest rival, NC candidate Mahendra Yadav, received 15,809 votes.
Likewise, in Udayapur-2, RSP candidate Surya Bahadur Lama won with 14,802 votes, defeating UML candidate Ambar Bahadur Rayamajhi, who secured 7,648 votes.
In Sunsari-3, RSP candidate Ashok Kumar Chaudhary was elected with 47,421 votes. His nearest rival, NC candidate Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, received 20,501 votes.
In Dang-1, RSP candidate Devaraj Pathak was elected with 42,602 votes. His closest rival, NC candidate Yogendra Chaudhary, secured 15,280 votes.
In Kanchanpur-1, RSP candidate Janak Singh Dhami was elected with 24,332 votes. Dhami defeated NCP candidate Bina Magar by a margin of 13,222 votes.
In Mahottari-2, RSP candidate Dipak Kumar Sah was elected with 32,732 votes. His nearest rival, Janata Samajbadi Party candidate Sharat Singh Bhandari, secured 10,198 votes.
In Palpa-2, Madhav Bahadur Thapa of RSP was elected as a member of the HoR. He secured 26,736 votes, defeating Himal Datta Shrestha of the Nepali Congress (NC), who received 12,992 votes.
In Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta West)-1, RSP candidate Bikram Khanal was elected with 45,241 votes. He defeated NC candidate Binod Kumar Chaudhary by a margin of 35,739 votes, while Chaudhary secured 9,502 votes.
In Kanchanpur-2, RSP’s Deepak Raj Bohara won the seat by a wide margin, defeating NC candidate Narayan Prakash Saud. Bohara received 33,952 votes, while Saud secured 10,827 votes.
Kanchanpur-3, RSP candidate Gyanendra Singh Mahata won the election with 27,118 votes. In the same constituency, NC candidate Hari Prasad Bohara received 9,443 votes, while CPN-UML candidate Deepak Prakash Bhatta secured 7,575 votes.
Similarly, In Parsa-4, RSP candidate Tek Bahadur Shakya was elected as a member of the HoR. He secured votes sufficient for victory, while Ramesh Rijal of the NC received 12,533 votes and Jalim Mia Mansuri of the CPN-UML secured 12,146 votes.
In Siraha-4, RSP’s Tapeshwar Yadav won the election with a strong mandate, securing 36,210 votes. His nearest rival, Ajay Shankar Nayak of the NCP, received 7,972 votes.
Similarly, in Parsa-3, RSP candidate Ramakant Chaurasiya was elected with 29,679 votes. In the same constituency, Surendra Prasad Chaudhary of the NC secured 16,366 votes.
Nepali Congress
In Tehrathum-1, NC candidate Santosh Subba won with 11,561 votes, defeating his nearest rival, Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal of UML, by a margin of 879 votes. Dhakal secured 10,682 votes.
In Manang-1, NC candidate Tek Bahadur Gurung was elected with 2,415 votes. His nearest rival, NCP candidate Yashoda Gurung (Subedi), secured 454 votes.
Similarly, in Mustang-1, NC candidate Yogesh Gauchan Thakali won with 3,307 votes. His nearest rival, UML candidate Indradhara Bista, received 1,806 votes.
In Dailekh-1, NC candidate Basana Thapa won with 12,372 votes, defeating her nearest rival, CPN-UML candidate Rabindra Raj Sharma, who secured 11,796 votes.
In Doti-1, NC candidate Bharat Bahadur Khadka won with 14,897 votes. His nearest rival, CPN-UML candidate Dipak Bahadur Dhami, received 14,110 votes.
Similarly, NC candidate Bharat Kumar Swar won from Achham-1 with 10,759 votes, Bishnu Bahadur Khadka from Surkhet-1 with 26,897 votes, Khadka Bahadur Budha from Jajarkot-1 with 20,142 votes, and Abhishek Pratap Shah from Kapilvastu-3 with 23,535 votes.
In Rautahat-2, Dr. Mo Firdosh Alam of the NC won with 29,528 votes, defeating Kiran Kumar Sah of the NCP, who received 18,442 votes.
Jayapati Rokaya of NC was elected with 8,796 votes from Humla, narrowly defeating Dr Dipendra Rokaya of the NCP, who received 7,243 votes.
Prakash Singh Karki of the NC has won the House of Representatives election from Solukhumbu. Karki secured 13,166 votes to claim the seat, while his nearest rival, Ashim Rai of the NCP, received 9,414 votes, according to election results.
In Panchthar, Narendra Kumar Kerung of the NC was elected to the HoR with 17,233 votes. He defeated Hastraj Sherma of the Shram Sanskriti Party, who secured 14,734 votes. Kerung won by a margin of 2,499 votes.
CPN-UML
In Banke-2, CPN-UML candidate Mohammad Ishtiyaq Ray won with 24,628 votes. His nearest rival, RSP candidate Bibek Kumar Shrestha, secured 18,682 votes.
In Bajhang-1, CPN-UML candidate Ain Bahadur Mahar won with 18,543 votes. His nearest rival, NC candidate Prakash Rasaili Snehi, secured 16,304 votes.
Similarly, Laxmi Prasad Pokharel was elected from Dailekh-2 with 13,889 votes.
UML candidate Suhang Nembang has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Ilam-2, marking a significant political win in the constituency.
Nembang defeated Bhesh Raj Acharya of the NC by a margin of 7,776 votes. He secured 22,426 votes, while Acharya received 14,650 votes.
In Darchula, Ganesh Singh Thagunna of the UML has been elected, securing 18,899 votes. His closest rival, Dharmanand Joshi of the NC, received 15,836 votes.
Nepali Communist Party
In Rukum East-1, NCP Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal won with 10,240 votes. His closest rival from UML, Lilamani Gautam, secured 3,462 votes.
Similarly, Barshaman Pun was elected from Rolpa-1 with 27,460 votes.
Ramesh Kumar Malla of the NCP has been elected as a member of the HoR from Salyan. Malla secured 23,189 votes to win the seat. His nearest rival, Lalit Bahadur Chand of the RSP, received 20,904 votes, while Kesh Bahadur Bista of the NC secured 17,558 votes.
In Rukum West, Gopal Sharma of the NCP emerged victorious, securing 21,609 votes, while NC candidate Raju KC received 16,661 votes.
In Dolpa, Dhan Bahadur Budha of the NCP has been elected as the HoR member from the district’s single constituency. Budha secured 6,802 votes, defeating his nearest rival Lanka Bahadur Rokaya of the UML by a margin of 1,406 votes.
Rastriya Prajatantra Party
In Jumla, RPP candidate Gyanendra Shahi won with 14,816 votes. Shahi defeated NCP candidate Naresh Bhandari by a margin of 3,181 votes.
Shram Sanskriti Party
Aran Rai of the Shram Sanskriti Party has been elected as a member of the HoR, marking the party’s first victory in the current election cycle. Rai secured 16,612 votes to win the seat. His closest rival, Dev Bikram Rai of the UML, received 12,714 votes, while Bir Kaji Rai of the NC secured 11,957 votes.
Independent candidate
In Myagdi-1, independent candidate Mahabir Pun won with 22,850 votes. In the constituency, UML candidate Hari Krishna Shrestha and NC candidate Karna Bahadur Bhandari each secured 6,676 votes. Pun won by a margin of 14,931 votes.
