Squatter who said he would enter Singha Durbar with khukuri released

Police took him into custody from a holding center established in Kirtipur to temporarily accommodate landless squatters and unmanaged settlers relocated from various areas.

KATHMANDU, July 7: Dambar Bahadur Tamang, who was arrested for allegedly threatening to enter Singha Durbar carrying a khukuri (traditional Nepali knife), has been released.



Tamang, 39, of Arun Rural Municipality in Bhojpur, was arrested on June 29  and was investigated on charges of committing an offense against public peace.

Police took him into custody from a holding center established in Kirtipur to temporarily accommodate landless squatters and unmanaged settlers relocated from various areas.


According to police, Tamang was arrested after they concluded that his public remarks could pose a threat to public peace and security.
