UDAYAPUR, March 17: Two persons were killed, and six others were injured as a heavy storm collapsed trees in different areas of Katari Municipality in the district of Udayapur on Monday evening.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police and Information Officer of District Police Office, Niranjan Thapa, said that Mina Maya Tamang, 49, of Katari Municipality-8, and Birendra Chaudhary, 64, of ward no. 5 of the same municipality, died after being crushed by the trees that fell following the storm.

According to police, Kamala Kumari Pulamimagar, 20, deceased Birendra Chaudhary's five-year-old granddaughter Binisha, 27-year-old Yubraj Karki, Prem Chandra Danuwar, Lil Bahadur Danuwar, 46, and 16-year-old Asmita Pariyar were injured in the disaster.
Lil Bahadur Danuwar and Kamala Kumari Pulamimagar were referred to a health facility in Biratnagar for further treatment while four others were discharged from the Katari Hospital on Monday itself.
Police reported that some houses in the hilly belt of Katari sustained minor damage from the storm.
