214 companies gain as both NEPSE index and turnover incline notably

KATHMANDU, Jan 5: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday escalated 28.73 points to close at 2,639.37 points.



The secondary market opened at 2,610.63 points and gradually rose to as high as 2,632.93 points in the first two and a half hours. The market witnessed a nominal fluctuation until the last nine minutes of trading time, while the index rose by around five points in the remaining period before the market closed for the day.

All the 13 groups were the gainers. Manufacturing and processing by adding 263.35 points led the sectoral performance as hotels and tourism and development banks jumped 176.14 points and 146.38 points, respectively. 


The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, increased 3.84 points. The daily turnover soared to Rs 6.47 billion from Rs 5.01 billion.


Among the individual companies, 214 were gainers while 37 were recorded as losers. Shivam Cements Ltd had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 386.95 million.


Five companies, including Sagar Distillery Limited, SY Panel Nepal, Shreenagar Agritech Industries Limited, Bandipur Cablecar and Tourism Limited and Ru Ru Jalbidhyut Pariyojana Limited gained the highest of 10 percent. Standard Chartered Bank Limited Debenture lost the highest of 2.49 percent in its market price.
