KATHMANDU, June 21: President Ram Chandra Paudel has urged people to adopt yoga as a way of life.
On the occasion of the 12th International Yoga Day, the President extended his heartfelt wishes for happiness, peace, prosperity and good health to all Nepalis at home and abroad, while encouraging them to embrace yoga as part of their daily lives.
In his message, Paudel said yoga is a holistic practice that connects the body, mind and soul. He emphasized that yoga combines meditation, pranayama and physical postures and should be viewed as a scientific and human centered way of living.
Yoga – An Ancient Blessing
“Yoga, meditation and spiritual practice help bring the body, mind and soul into balance, reduce stress and generate positive energy,” he said.
The President noted that studies, research and historical and archaeological evidence related to yoga continue to affirm Nepal’s identity as a land of yoga.
He stressed the need for further efforts to establish yoga as an integral part of national policy, educational curricula and public health programs.
Expressing confidence in the benefits of yoga, Paudel said regular practice enhances daily productivity, strengthens immunity and improves digestion. It also promotes positive thinking and helps individuals tap into their inner energy.
“Yoga guides people toward knowledge, action, awareness and stability, making them physically, mentally and spiritually stronger for a healthy life,” he said.
Describing yoga as an ancient part of Eastern knowledge and culture that promotes global messages of unity, peace and wellbeing, the President highlighted its relevance in modern times.
He said yoga should be adopted as a lifestyle to help people cope with the growing stress, pollution and competition that affect contemporary life.
In his message, Paudel also expressed hope that International Yoga Day would inspire people to remain physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally healthy while fostering positive energy in society.
