DDA bans production of 10 types of medicines

KATHMANDU, Dec 13: The Department of Drug Administration (DDA) has imposed a ban on the production of 10 different types of drugs. The DDA in a notice stated that the production of these 10 types of drugs is prohibited based on the recommendations received from the Drug Evaluation Committee.

KATHMANDU, Dec 13:  The Department of Drug Administration (DDA) has imposed a ban on the production of 10 different types of drugs. The DDA in a notice stated that the production of these 10 types of drugs is prohibited based on the recommendations received from the Drug Evaluation Committee.



Narayan Dhakal, the Director-General of the DDA, specified that the banned drugs include linagliptin 2.5 mg, linagliptin 10 mg, rivaroxaban 5 mg, aceclofenac 200 mg, and aceclofenac 300 mg.

Additionally, the production of linagliptin 2.5 mg with metformin 500 mg, linagliptin 2.5 mg with metformin 850 mg, and linagliptin 5 mg with metformin 500 mg, as well as linagliptin 5 mg with metformin 850 mg, is currently prohibited. Notably, these medications are produced by Nepali companies.


Director-General Dhakal mentioned that further decisions will be made in the Medicines Advisory Committee meeting. Furthermore, the DDA has instructed against the production of new products and the increase in production of existing brands in the market until recommendations are received from the pharmaceutical advisory committee.
