More than 400 vie for RSP central committee posts

KATHMANDU, June 24: More than 400 candidates have filed nominations for 99 central committee member positions of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), reflecting intense competition within the party’s first general convention.



According to Bhuwan KC, chief of the Central Election Commission, preparations are underway to publish the preliminary candidate list as nominations continued until late Tuesday night. “We are verifying the exact number, but more than 400 candidates have filed their nominations. The candidate list will be published at 9:00 AM today,” he said.

Office bearers will be selected from among the 99 elected central committee members, with the second phase of the process determining key leadership positions.


The party will use electronic voting devices for the election, while representatives living abroad will cast their votes through a mobile app. Around 4,000 representatives are eligible to vote.
