Foreign currency worth Rs 97.10 billion spent for abroad study in eight months

KATHMANDU, April 11: Students for foreign study took away foreign exchange worth Rs 97.10 billion in eight months of the current fiscal year (FY).



According to Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the country’s expense under the heading in the review period this year was Rs 8.18 billion more than the amount in the same period of the last FY, when the amount was recorded at Rs 88.92 billion. Compared to the financial inflow of Rs 4.10 billion by foreign students in Nepal, the country faced a deficit worth Rs 92.89 billion on the heading.

The NRB records show that the outflow of foreign currency has been growing exorbitantly mainly in the past three years. In the review period of 2023/24, the outflow amount for education purposes was Rs 80.14 billion, while it grew by Rs 8.78 billion in the same period last FY.
