KATHMANDU, March 31: Police have arrested the former Chief District Officer (CDO) of Kathmandu, Chhabilal Rijal, from his residence in Subidhanagar.
Rijal was detained over his alleged role in the deadly shooting and crackdown during the “Gen-Z” protests held on September 8 and 9 in New Baneshwar, which resulted in the deaths of minors.

A probe commission led by Gauribahadur Karki had identified Rijal as responsible and recommended action against him.
Based on the commission’s report, former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and then Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak had already been arrested earlier.
