BHAIRAHAWA, May 17 : The Lumbini Province government has shown weak budget execution performance, with less than two months remaining in the current fiscal year.
According to official data, overall expenditure has remained below 40 percent due to slow progress in development projects and weak implementation across most ministries.
For the current fiscal year, the provincial government had allocated a total budget of Rs 38.81 billion, including Rs 23.47 billion for capital expenditure and Rs 15.43 billion for recurrent spending.
However, by the end of the tenth month, only 39.91 percent of the total budget had been spent. The province’s Finance Controller Office reported that Rs 13.79 billion had been spent so far.

Expenditure performance across ministries has remained uneven. The Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers spent only 26.66 percent of its allocated budget. The Ministry of Youth and Sports spent 16.34 percent of its budget.
The Ministry of Urban Development and Water Supply spent 36.59 percent of its allocation, while the Ministry of Social Development spent 26.66 percent.
The Ministry of Health performed relatively better, spending 58.23 percent of its allocated Rs 2.88 billion budget.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning spent 26.75 percent of its budget, while the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Transport spent 28.07 percent.
The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation spent 38.98 percent, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Land Management and Cooperatives spent 35.52 percent.
Similarly, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law spent only 11.24 percent of its budget, while the Ministry of Forest and Environment spent 41.15 percent.
The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development spent 43.28 percent of its Rs 4.29 billion allocation.
