KATHMANDU, Oct 22: The Miteri Bridge, which was washed away by floods on July 8, is in the final stage of reconstruction over Lhendekhola.
The motorable bridge connecting Nepal and China is being rebuilt with financial and technical support from the Chinese government. The necessary parts have been installed, and the main pillars have been erected.

As the connecting sections on either side were completed, the central span of the Beli Bridge showed signs of sagging.
To strengthen it, Chinese technicians have begun constructing an additional pillar in the middle of the river, supporting half of the bridge span.
Chief District Officer Rajesh Panthi, based on his on-site inspection, estimated that the Miteri Bridge could be operational by the end of October, given the current pace of work. He added that the Chinese counterparts in the border area have not yet provided official information regarding the bridge’s operation.
Businessmen expressed optimism that the bridge, strengthened with the new central pillar, would facilitate smoother trade and business activities.
Customs Chief Tulsi Prasad Bhattarai stated that once the bridge is operational, imported goods will begin arriving, and his staff is prepared to ensure prompt customs clearance.
