KATHMANDU, Feb 22: NIBL Equity Partners has appointed Upendra Poudyal as a member of its Advisory Board, aiming to strengthen the company’s strategic leadership and focus on sustainable and values-based banking, NIBL Equity Partners said in a press release.
The press release states that Poudyal is a veteran of Nepal’s financial sector with nearly four decades of experience in commercial banking, investment banking, and sustainable finance. Over the years, he has worked closely with regulators, financial institutions, and development partners to support the development of Nepal’s banking system. He has been honored by the Government of Nepal with the Prawal Janasewa Shree (Fourth).
He previously served as Chairman of Nabil Bank Ltd., Nepal’s first joint-venture bank, and as Chief Executive Officer of NMB Bank for 17 years. During his tenure, he led reforms in governance, risk management, and sustainable banking practices. He has also contributed as a banking expert to ESG and Environmental and Social Risk Management programs supported by IFC, FMO, and Invest for Impact Nepal, the press release further states.

Shivanth Pande, CEO of NIBL Equity Partners, said Poudyal’s experience in sustainable and values-based banking would support the company’s efforts to strengthen governance, enhance sustainability practices, and promote innovation.
Poudyal said Nepal’s private equity sector is at a crucial stage of development and expressed his commitment to supporting NIBL’s strategic goals and contributing to a resilient and inclusive private equity ecosystem.
The press release further mentions that he currently serves as the Asia Pacific Regional Representative of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values and as Chairman of the Advisory Committee for the Post Graduate Diploma in Sustainable Business Management at the School of Management, Tribhuvan University.
