Under the law, police can hold former Prime Minister Oli and former Home Minister Lekhak in custody for up to 24 days for investigation, but court approval is required—hence the Sunday hearing.
Both were detained following the implementation of recommendations by the commission led by former Special Court Chair Gauri Bahadur Karki, which was formed to investigate the excesses during Gen Z movement.
