KATHMANDU, Nov 9: One person died and 17 others were injured in separate road accidents in Makwanpur and Gorkha.
A pedestrian, estimated to be 32 years old, died after being hit by a bus (Bagmati Province 03-001K 2656) at Hetauda–9, Mashtarchowk on Thursday night, police said. The identity of the deceased is yet to be established. Police have taken the bus driver, 33-year-old Sujay Kumar Singh of Ramgopalpur–6, Mahottari, into custody.
One dead, 17 injured in microbus accident
Similarly, 17 passengers were injured when a microbus met with an accident at Chorkate bend in Siranchowk Rural Municipality–4, Gorkha. The microbus (Ba 4 Kha 6043), travelling from Bhachchek to Abukhaireni, lost control and crashed into a roadside wall, said DSP Rajkumar Shrestha, spokesperson for the District Police Office.
Among the injured were eight-year-old Sworinlal Chaudhary, 43-year-old Laxmi Chaudhary, and 36-year-old Pavitra Mahato, who sustained serious injuries. Police reached the scene soon after the incident, rescued the injured and sent them to Provincial Hospital Gorkha for treatment.
Most of the injured are residents of Khaireni Municipality, Chitwan, according to police. Nineteen passengers were on board the microbus at the time of the accident.
