KATHMANDU, Oct 9: Imports through the Tatopani border point have increased following the Dashain festival, with more than 20 containers entering Nepal daily, according to Tatopani Customs Office.

According to the customs office, there are no major road obstructions at present. Since the landslide at Kodari has been cleared, imports have resumed smoothly. Over 20 containers carrying goods such as garments and fruits are entering daily.

The Tatopani border, which had remained closed for nearly two months, came into operation earlier this month after Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Kulman Ghising directed the clearance of the Kodari landslide.

Meanwhile, the Rasuwa border point remains closed since July 7 after floods swept away the bridge over the Lhende River. China has been constructing a Bailey bridge at the site, and Rasuwa Customs Chief Tulsi Bhattarai said work is expected to be completed within 8 to 10 days.

However, Bhattarai noted that the road from Syafrubesi to Rasuwagadhi has been severely damaged, making it unlikely for the Rasuwa checkpoint to reopen before the Tihar festival.
