KATHMANDU, Sept 8: The District Administration Office (DAO) Lalitpur has declared several areas in the district as prohibited zones in response to ongoing demonstrations by Gen Z in the Kathmandu Valley.
According to the DAO, sensitive locations—including the central offices of the CPN-UML and the Nepali Congress, the new ministerial quarters in Bhaisepati, and the vicinity of judges’ residences in Pulchowk—have been brought under restriction.
In a statement issued on Monday, the administration said the order was enforced under Subsection (3k) of Section 6 of the Local Administration Act, 1971, and will remain effective from 6 PM on September 8 until further notice.
The order bans all forms of assemblies, rallies, demonstrations, sit-ins, and other mass activities within the restricted zones. Authorities have also warned of legal action against anyone violating the prohibitory order.
