KATHMANDU, Dec 25 : The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has accelerated its candidate selection process for the upcoming March 5 House of Representatives (HoR) election, marking its first-ever allocation of 10% Proportional Representation (PR) seats specifically for Nepali expatriates.
The party completed consultations with aspirants from all seven provinces, engaging the initial 353 candidates under its proportional representation system and preparing to submit the final list to the Election Commission (EC) by December 29.

The RSP has claimed that the PR Nominations have come from countries including Qatar, India, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Denmark, Norway, UAE, the UK and the USA.
The preliminary list are allocated for three seats for those who joined the party from the Bibeksheel Sajha Party and nine central committee members of RSP. The party plans to have its approximately 150,000 members vote to finalize the proportional representation candidates.
To manage the internal selection, RSP has formed eight subcommittees under the central candidate selection committee, ahead of the internal voting scheduled for December 27 and 28.
This initiative represents Nepal’s first proportional representation quota for the diaspora, reflecting RSP’s effort to include Nepalis living abroad in the political process.
