KATHMANDU, April 3: The Supreme Court (SC) has prohibited schools from enrolling students before the academic session begins. The court issued an interim order directing relevant authorities to allow admission processes only after the session starts and to refrain from activities that violate education regulations.
The ruling challenges the long-standing practice of “advance admissions,” particularly by private schools, which often conduct early admissions and entrance exams in the name of competition, creating unfair advantages in the education sector.

Following the SC’s order, schools will no longer be allowed to enroll students before the scheduled time. The decision is expected to give parents more time to make informed choices and protect students from unnecessary competition.
