KATHMANDU, July 23: Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has expressed suspicion over the CPN-UML’s proposal to pass the land bill through fast-track.
Writing on Facebook on Wednesday, Koirala said that the proposal raised doubts, especially given that one of the two UML ministers allegedly involved in the Pokhara land corruption scandal—Land Management, Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation Minister—has yet to resign and is still in office.

“The UML’s proposal to fast-track the land bill, even while one of its ministers implicated in the Pokhara land graft case remains in office, raises serious concerns. These two matters cannot be treated separately. This is not the kind of good governance Nepali Congress has demanded from the government,” he wrote.
Koirala urged for an impartial investigation into the minister, lawmakers, civil servants, and middlemen involved in the Pokhara land scam. He also stressed the need for in-depth discussion on the Land Bill in the parliamentary committee.
