KATHMANDU, Dec 8: Three joint secretaries have been recommended for promotion to the post of secretary.
A meeting of the Promotion Recommendation Committee, chaired by Commission Chair Madhav Prasad Regmi, who is also Chairman of Public Service Commission (PSC), put forward the names of three officials for the position, according to the Promotion Division of the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration.

The promotion committee has recommended Joint Secretaries Rajendra Kumar Paudel, Kamal Prasad Bhattarai and Indu Ghimire for the promotion. Paudel is currently serving as Spokesperson at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) in Tangal, while Bhattarai is the Director General of the Department of Foreign Employment. Ghimire is currently working at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.
The next cabinet meeting will select one of the three for promotion to secretary. Sources said Paudel is the leading race based on seniority.
On the night of November 25, National Planning Commission Secretary Gokarnamani Duwadi and Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal were sent on compulsory retirement. Following their retirement, the cabinet promoted Baikuntha Prasad Aryal to the post of secretary, while Defence Secretary Suman Raj Aryal was elevated to Chief Secretary.
With one secretary post still vacant, the three joint secretaries have now been recommended for the promotion.
