DSP Bhattarai said the incident occurred during the protests on September 8 and 9, when the suspects allegedly approached three defendants held at Sundhara Jail and promised that they could get them released on bail through a Supreme Court judge they claimed to know. They demanded the bail money and legal fees be deposited into the wife’s account, ultimately collecting Rs 900,000.
Both suspects are currently in police custody, and further investigation is underway, the spokesperson added.
