KATHMANDU, Dec 18: Voting for the new leadership of the 11th General Convention of the CPN-UML has concluded. Voting began on Wednesday morning and continued throughout the night.
Out of a total of 2,263 eligible voters, 2,227 cast their votes, while 36 did not participate, according to the party’s Central Election Commission Office. The Central Election Commission said the remaining delegates were unable to attend due to various reasons.

Originally scheduled to begin at 11 AM on Tuesday, the voting was repeatedly deferred due to technical issues and finally started at 9:30 AM on Wednesday.
Through the election, the party will elect one chairperson, five vice-chairpersons, one general secretary, three deputy general secretaries, nine secretaries, and 301 central committee members, with around 642 candidates in the race.
A total of 80 electronic voting machines were used for the voting process.
The party said vote counting will begin soon.
