KATHMANDU, Feb 7: Veteran actor Sunil Thapa, popularly known as Rate Kaila, has passed away during treatment at Norvic International Hospital.

Senior film journalist and writer Samipya Timilsena told Republica that Thapa was in critical condition upon arrival at the hospital. "He was brought to Norvic unconscious at 5:30 AM from his own apartment. Thapa’s sons are in India and are making arrangements to come, while close relatives are in Lubhu, waiting for their arrival," Timilsena added.
Thapa had been active in both the Nepali and Indian film industries for many years.
