KATHMANDU, March 8: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the production of a women-centric Nepali film, ‘Tika (Stateless Soul)’, has been officially announced. The film is being produced under the banner of Bhabishya Films in collaboration with Third Eye Arts.
Directed by Shankar Karki, the film aims to highlight the struggles, self-respect, identity, and self-reliance of women in Nepali society. A theme poster released on Sunday features the word ‘Tika’ in white letters within a red circular design, symbolising struggle, bravery, and moral purity—core themes reflected in the film.

Producer Bhabishya Khadka, who previously produced the superhit film ‘Jerry on Top’, is at the helm of this project. The film will star Mahesh Tripathi, Reecha Sharma, Barsha Siwakoti, and comedian Nirmal Sharma in lead roles, with child artist Aayushi Dhakal playing a major part. Additional cast and technical team members are yet to be finalised, according to executive producer Tej Bikram KC.
The film is based on a story by Chandan Jha and Shankar Karki, with the screenplay penned by Ram Kumar Shrestha.
KC said the film seeks to combine entertainment with a social message. “We aim to offer audiences a unique experience through a strong story, compelling performances, and high-quality presentation,” he said.
‘Tika (Stateless Soul)’ is expected to shed light on women’s challenges and resilience while engaging viewers through a thought-provoking narrative.
