18 bodies found in Everest base camp avalanche

SOLUKHUMBU, April 27: 18 bodies have been found at the Everest Base Camp after an avalanche hit the camp. The avalanche was a result of the earthquake on Saturday. Private airliners Manang Air and Fishtail Air have collected the bodies of 4 foreigners and 14 Nepalis from the base camp. These people died from the avalanche at Pumori Mountain.

It has believed that more than 20 people are still missing because of the avalanche. Journalist Anfula Sherpa has informed that none of the dead have been identified.

The police have been unable to reach the base camp so that documentation of the dead has not been possible. 170 climbers in 17 teams trying to the scale Everest have been rescued from the first and second camp. Most of the rescued are foreign nationals. Army helicopters has so far failed to reach the base camp.
