263 incidents of fire in Valley in past nine months

KATHMANDU, April 19: As many as 263 incidents of fire took place in the Kathmandu Valley during the past nine months.



Of the total incidents, Kathmandu saw 176, Lalitpur 41 and Bhaktapur 46, confirmed Office of the Metropolitan Police Commission, Ranipokhari. [break]



Spokesperson of the office, Rabiraj Shrestha said some 163 incidents of fire took place due to direct fire spread, 71 because of short circuit of electricity, 27 related to gas leakage and 2 due to stove explosion.



Meanwhile, a total of 272 protest programmes held in the Kathmandu Valley during the period of two-and-a-half month from 1st February to mid-March this year.



The incidents include 89 in Magh (Mid-January to Mid-February), 64 in Falgun (Mid-February to Mid-March) and 119 in Chaitra (Mid-March to Mid-April).
