KATHMANDU, March 15: A total of 6,799 disaster incidents occurred across the country from mid-April to mid-March (Baisakha to Falgun 2082 BS) of the current fiscal year.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, disasters during the 11-month period claimed 464 lives. Another 38 people remain missing, while 1,814 people sustained injuries.

Various disasters affected 12,458 households during the period, according to the authority's data.
Fire incidents accounted for the largest share. A total of 3,339 fire incidents were recorded, resulting in 98 deaths.
During the same period, 318 flood incidents, 590 landslides, 429 cases of heavy rainfall, 367 lightning strikes, 592 snakebite incidents, and 246 forest fire incidents were reported.
Similarly, 292 incidents of windstorms, 488 cases of animal attacks, and 119 cases of altitude sickness were recorded. The authority also reported five avalanches, seven earthquakes, and two boat capsize incidents.
The authority said that 29 disaster incidents were recorded between the morning of March 13 and the morning of March 14 alone.
