Following the footsteps of FIFA, the world governing body of football, and Asian Football Confederation (AFC), ANFA has signed *one-year agreement with Saathi to raise awareness on the issue of violence against women. [break]
ANFA President Ganesh Thapa and Saathi President Bandana Rana signed a memorandum of understanding on behalf of their respective intuitions.
The slogan of the campaign -- Our Goal: End Violence Against Women and Girls -- was unveiled at the ANFA Complex, Satdobato on Friday.
ANFA will put a banner carrying the slogan of the campaign in every event and tournament organized by sports body.
The campaign run by Saathi was launched under ´Dream Asia Project´ set by the AFC in 2009. Saathi, which has been advocating for women´s right from last two decade, and two other organizations from Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan were selected by the AFC for the project in 2010 from among organizations from 46 member nations of the AFC. To run the project, ANFA has provided Saathi $ 20,000 for a year.
Speaking at the function, President Rana said that they have partnered with ANFA to bring a positive change in the society.
ANFA President Thapa expressed his commitment to start the campaign from his own home.
Constituent Assembly members Arju Rana Deuba, Ushakala Rai, Chief Secretary Madhav Prasad Ghimire and National Women Commission Secretary Kewal Bhandari also spoke on the occasion.
