Biratnagar entry point likely to resume today

BIRATNAGAR, Oct 4: Customs chiefs of Nepal and India, transporters and clearing agents have agreed in principle on resuming Biratnagar entry point closed since one and a half week.

A meeting participated by Chief of Biratnagar Customs Office Krishna Basnet and his Indian counterpart Pranesh Gupta among others on Sunday decided to send stranded goods-laden trucks and fuel tankers to Nepal at the soonest.


The meet also decided to establish a help desk at Biranagar Customs to manage traffic after resumption of the border entry point. However, not a single vehicle has entered Nepal through the entry point till now.

“It is likely that Indian side will send vehicles after a press meet,” an attendant of the meeting told Republica.

Representatives from business organizations and security personnel from both the country also attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, cadres of Madheshi Front have continued their sit-in at Jogbani entry point.
