The Gatisheel Loktantrik Party was formed following the Gen-Z movement.

Basnet said he had joined the new political campaign with the aim of seeking solutions to corruption, unemployment, poverty, exploitation and misgovernance, while promoting sustainable employment, good governance and equitable development. However, he said the effort could not move forward as expected.

“The current political culture did not align with my conscience. I realized that within the limits of positions and party structures, I could not make the contribution that my experience, capability and deep love for the country demand,” he wrote.

He also said he would dedicate his time, energy and skills to analysis, discussion, solutions and creative initiatives in the coming days.
