Participating in a meeting of Constituent Assembly (CA) deliberations on the proposal tabled before it, seeking permission to publish the first integrated draft of the new constitution in Nepal's gazette for people's feedbacks, lawmakers stressed on including the provision death penalty to those who were approved culprits of rape, genocide and other serious crimes.Speaking in the meeting, lawmaker Yagya Raj Sunar opined for arranging reservation provision for marginalized and deprived groups as the draft is silence for them. Lawmaker Gokul Prasad Gharti opined for making the constitution as consensus document.
Lawmaker Ganga Devi Dangi opined for correcting the provisions related to women rights as these provisions included in the draft of the new constitution have some weaknesses.
Similarly lawmakers Bikram Pandey, Rajya Laxmi Shrestha, Shankar Bhandari, Taraman Gurung, Dinesh Chandra Yadav also opined for correcting some provisions.
Lawmaker Prakash Man Singh who is also the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Development said that the draft of the constitution was not a final therefore, it might be corrected.
He even opined for clarifying the provision of media, religious freedom, citizenship, threshold and local bodies' election in the draft. RSS
