Displaced journalist asks for security

ITAHARI, Jan 3: A Saptari based journalist has demanded security of his and family after he was displaced following the attack of an unidentified gang due to the news coverage.



Organizing a press conference, Baijanath Yadav, the district correspondent of Avenues Television, said he was attacked as soon as he reported the entry of Indian parliamentarian Sarfarad Alam with arms in Nepal.[break]



He claimed that the group has issued the life threat to his family members after the gang failed to nab him adding that he saved his life after fleeing following the attack.



Yadav said he was attacked by some locals along the Saptari section of the Koshi barrage while attending a picnic with his family members and colleagues.



Vice chairman of Saptari Chapter of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Abadhesh Jha, who is also an eyewitness of the attack, confirmed the attack and said that the people behind the incident will be identified after investigation.
