District Court grants permission to keep Durga Prasai in 12-day custody

The Kathmandu District Court has permitted the police to keep Durga Prasai, the commander of the violent pro-monarchy protest in Tinkune area on March 28, in custody for 12 days for investigation.

KATHMANDU, April 11: The Kathmandu District Court has permitted the police to keep Durga Prasai, the commander of the violent pro-monarchy protest in Tinkune area on March 28, in custody for 12 days for investigation. 


Nepal Police arrested Prasai in Assam, India, brought him to Kathmandu on Friday, and presented him before the court.

Judge Shishir Raj Dhakal, presiding over a single bench, directed authorities to arrange necessary medical treatment for Prasai, considering his health condition. The protest left two people dead and involved incidents of vandalism and arson in the Tinkune area. Earlier, police also detained Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leaders Rabindra Mishra and Dhawal Shumsher Rana in connection with the same incident.
