Addressing a function organized by Nepal Utpidit Jatiya Mukti Samaj, an organization of oppressed communities, Pokharel said that the UCPN (Maoist) had “betrayed Dalits as it did nothing in their favor” even after it emerged as the largest political party in the 2008 CA election. [break]
“It is wise to take a decision on the basis of lessons learnt so far,” said Pokharel. He accused the Maoist leaders of amassing property in the name of the poor.
He claimed that Maoist leaders seized huge areas of land in Dang saying the land would be distributed among peasants.
“It will be a silly mistake to trust the UCPN (Maoist) that has already shown its corrupt nature.”
