KATHMANDU, May 29: Durga Prasai’s group has boycotted the ongoing protest by pro-monarchy parties and groups at Ratnapark.
The “campaign to protect nation, nationalism, religion, culture and citizens'” led by Prasai issued a statement saying they will not participate in today’s pro-monarchy demonstration.
The statement, released by Premdeep Limbu, secretary of the organization department of the Mega Campaign,, said, “Since the May 28 protest is led by Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), we have no cooperation with it and therefore we won’t participate.”

The statement also clarified that the Mega Campaign will not be responsible for any incidents that may occur.
The statement further mentioned that their group’s ongoing “Satyagraha” protest at Maitighar Mandala has been postponed from Thursday, demanding the immediate release of their group’s Chairman Prasai and others who are unlawfully held in police custody.
Prasai has been in police custody since the violent royalist protest at Tinkune on March 28. Most royalist groups are trying to shift the entire blame for the Tinkune incident onto Prasai. Even the RPP and its Chairman Rajendra Lingden hold a negative view toward Prasai.
This is considered a significant reason why Prasai’s group is not participating in today’s protest.
