Excluded Gen Z group chants slogans outside President’s office, discussion postponed for Monday

KATHMANDU, Oct 11 – The ongoing discussion between President Ram Chandra Poudel, Prime Minister Sushila Karki and representatives of the Gen Z group was postponed on Saturday following protests outside the President’s Office by some Gen Z members who were excluded from participation.

The meeting, which began at 10 AM on Saturday at Sheetal Niwas, was later rescheduled for Monday afternoon after excluded Gen Z members chanted slogans outside the President’s Office. Protesters claimed they had not been invited to the talks and demanded broader representation.


President Poudel had invited Gen Z representatives to discuss their demands and concerns. However, many other Gen Z individuals who claimed to have participated in the September 8 and 9 protests expressed dissatisfaction for not being invited to the meeting. They later staged a demonstration, which led to the postponement of the talks due to security and coordination concerns.


Officials have not provided further details on whether additional groups will be included in Monday’s discussion.


The following Gen Z leaders were invited by the government to attend the meeting: Sudan Gurung, Ojaswi Raj Thapa, Nikunja Bhandari, Miraj Dhungana, Prabesh Dahal, Jitendra Shah, Purushottam Yadav, Prashant Poudel, Ankit Adhikari, Abhishek Shrestha, Junal Gadal, Arjun Shahi, Rakshya Bam, Pradeep Gyawali, Ujan Raj Bhandari, Aditya Karna, Aakriti Ghimire, Monika Niraula, Ojaswee Bhattarai, and Rijan Rana.
