KATHMANDU, April 3: A special mountain flight over the world´s tallest mountain Sagarmatha or Everest was successfully carried out here on Wednesday in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the first mountain flight over Mount Everest. David Fowler MacIntyre and Douglas Douglas-Hamilton were the first to fly over the tallest peak in the world on an aircraft on April 3, 1933.

The mapping and photos taken by them helped Edmund Hillary of New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa of Nepal to scale Mt Everest 20 years later. Charles Douglas-Hamilton, the grandson of Hamilton, was part of the team that repeated the feat achieved 80 years ago, using the Jetstream-41 aircraft of Yeti Airlines. Speaking at a press conference organized here Wednesday, Hamilton said mountain flight was challenging.
