Apart from landslides, incessant rainfall for the past couple of days has also caused the water-level in the rivers to rise. Especially, landslide at Danaque and Timang intersection and rise in the water level of Timang River has obstructed transport movement.
The landslide and flood has made it difficult for even those trying to cover the distance on foot. Locals are having a hard time due to obstruction of transport movement, said Ram Hari Sharma, acting chief district officer of Manang."We have not been able to clear the debris from the landslide-hit road sections due to heavy rainfall. Hence, transport movement has been obstructed causing inconvenience to tourists and locals," added Sharma.
Transport services are available from Timang to Chame and Chamche to Khotro. However, locals and tourists need to cover the distance from Danaque to Timang on foot.
Water levels have also risen in Nigalaghari River and Mardi River of Manang, among others. Min Rashi Gurung of Tal Bazaar said landslide and flood hit areas had faced the same problem in previous years. As many as 21 households are at the risk of being displaced by landslides in the areas.
