Govt forms Reconstruction Consultative Committee under PM

KATHMANDU, May 21: The government has formed a Reconstruction Consultative Committee under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Sushil Koirala for the reconstruction of quake affected areas.

The meeting of Council of Ministers today decided to form the committee as per the decision of the Legislature-Parliament. Representatives of different political parties are members of the committee, said Dr Minendra Rijal Minister for Information and Communications and also the government spokesperson.

Today's Cabinet meeting has authorized the government to take assistance from different national and international organizations for the reconstruction of schools, health centres, community as well as other buildings.

Similarly, the meeting has endorsed Nepal's reply for the purpose of Recommendation No 5, 7 and 10 regarding the implementation of the recommendation presented by the United Nations Human Rights Committee on the report that Nepal presented to the committee in 2010 pursuant to the provisions stipulated in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, 1966.

The government has decided to instruct all the bodies to implement the suggestions and recommendations mentioned in Annex 3 of the Annual Report-2071 of the Arrears Clearance Evaluation and Monitoring Committee.

Also today the government directed the Ministry of General Administration to immediately formulate an action plan for improvement of services provided by the government and submit the same to the Council of Ministers, after the Service-Recipients Satisfaction Annual Report was presented to it.

The Cabinet meeting promoted Brigadier General Ramesh Pun to the vacant post of Major General, Colonel Prem Singh Basnyat to the post of Brigadier General under the general group while Arun Kumar Chaulagain and Ivapriya Shrestha to the post of Brigadier General (Physician) and the vacant post of Technical Colonel, respectively.

The government has also accepted the resignation tendered by Dr Achala Baidya from the post of the Chief Consultant at the Paropakar Maternity Hospital, Minister Rijal said. RSS
