According to him Alam´s condition has slightly improved. However, he is still not out of danger, he added.
The MoHA has directed all the local security bodies to step up security to ensure the safety of candidates contesting the November 19 Constituent Assembly (CA) polls following the assault on UML candidate Alam.
A team of Central Investigation Bureau under the leadership of SP Ishwor Babu Karki has already begun investigation into the attack, said Koirala.
According to the police headquarters, security personnel will be provided to candidates by the chief district officers after assessing security threat.
Alam has filed nomination from constituency -4 of Bara district representing CPN-UML.
Two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants had shot at Alam in Lipanimal VDC-4 on Friday.
Alam is now undergoing treatment at Maharajgunj-based TU Teaching Hospital.
He had been airlifted to Kathmandu on a Nepal Army helicopter after a preliminary treatment at Birgunj-based National Medical College.
