Injured Japanese tourist rescued from Sagarmatha region

SOLUKHUMBU, Nov 1: An injured foreign tourist has been rescued from the Sagarmatha region, home to the world's highest peak, Mount Everest.



The Solukhumbu District Police Office reported the rescue of Japanese national Mitsugu Shishido, 58, who was injured after falling off the trail in Khumbula region in Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-4, Solukhumbu.


According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dwarika Prasad Ghimire, Shishido, who was visiting the Khumbu region, fell in the sloppy area and was injured around 3 PM on Thursday while walking.

During his visit to the Khumbu area, he lost his way at night while returning from Khumbula Pass to Chhukung. He ended up reaching a different location.


DSP Ghimire stated that Shishido, who fell approximately 10 meters off the trail, was rescued by the police and locals. 


He said, "He has minor injuries to his head, face, and leg. We rescued him and provided treatment at the Dingboche Clinic, and he is currently recovering."


The District Police Office, Solukhumbu, has reported that after receiving basic treatment at the Dingboche Health Clinic, he is preparing to return to Kathmandu.


The Sagarmatha National Park Office in Namche has reported that this period is the tourist season in the Everest region, leading to a high volume of departing tourists. Chief Conservation Officer Sushma Rana stated that as the cold increases, the number of outgoing tourists is higher than those entering.
