BIRATNAGAR, April 28: A woman, whose husband chopped off her arm two days after marriage, has nobody to turn to for support.

Devimaya Gautam, 20, of Thoklunki, Tehrathum, is living miserably after her husband, Tanka Khadka, a resident of Urlabari-6, Morang mutilated her hands.

Khadka, who is 35 years older than Gautam, married her on March 5. Two days later Khadka chopped off her left arm using a khukuri knife following a quarrel.

Khadka lured Gautam into marriage by lying to her that he owns two bighas of land in Urlabari and has Rs 15,000 per month job in Sikkim.

“After coming to Urlabari, I came to know that he has another wife, and does not have a job or land,” said Gautam.
