The NC has handed over a 24-hour ultimatum for submission of a clarification letter for making a statement inciting against social harmony in Tikapur of Kailali, the scene of fatal clashes on August 24 between the police and the demonstrators.The Congress Central Office Chief Secretary Hrishikesh Tiwari said that Singh has 24 hours from receiving the letter to submit his clarification.
Singh, along with Madhesi Front leaders Upendra Yadav and Rajendra Mahato, has been accused of fueling the local community of Tikapur to raise arms during a programme organized by the Tharu community.
The ensuing clash during the agitation on Monday in Tikapur saw seven policemen including a Nepal Police SSP and a two year old juvenile killed.
Earlier, the Congress's Parliamentary Party had sought clarification from Singh for demanding a country if not province. RSS
