KATHMANDU, July 11: Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subas Nembang on Saturday said remaining disputes of the new constitution could be settled in a short period as major contentions have been resolved already.

At an introductory program of newly-elected office-bearers of Parliamentary Affairs Journalist Society, Nembang remarked contentions can be resolved within half an hour.

“Top leaders used to say that main disputes can be settled in two hours,” Nemabng said, “Now, accord on smaller issues can be forged within half an hour.”

He expressed his optimism saying parties will forge agreement while lawmakers collect public feedback on the draft of the new statute.

Madhesh-based parties have been sloganeering at the CA demanding federalism with names and boundaries of provinces.

On Friday, President Ram Baran Yadav summoned top leader of four parties and urged them to promulgate statute after naming and delineating boundaries of states.
