Nepalgunj bazar opened

KATHMANDU, March 8: The Tharuhat Joint Struggle Committee and other agitating groups, who had called an indefinite strike in the Tarai, on Sunday decided to open Nepalgunj bazar for four days in view of the Hindu festival of Holi and the Muslim community´s Warawafat.



The Committee´s West Command In-charge Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary informed that Nepalgun bazar would be open from Sunday till Wednesday and that motorcycles and tanga-s would also be allowed ply during that period. However, customs office, government offices and NGOs and INGOs would remain closed, said a statement from the Committee issued by Chaudhary.



Chaudhary said that they had not yet decided upon opening other places of the country for Holi.



Despite the decision, shops in Nepalgunj remained shut on Sunday as well.
