KATHMANDU, July 29: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday jumped 30.76 points to close at 3,002.07 points.
It was the highest level that the NEPSE index has reached in the past four years. Earlier, on August 29, 2021, the secondary market closed at 3,044.87 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,971.31 points and reached the day’s high at 3,028.01 points in the first one hour and 14 minutes. However, the index gradually declined after investors rushed to book profits, while taking upward the overall index by 1.03 percent.
Nepse marginally lower in week after last session recovery
Three groups—development bank, trading and finance—lost 23.79 points, 11.36 points and 3.32 points, respectively. Of the 10 gainers, non-life insurance posted the highest gain of 150.18 points, followed by life insurance with 112.60 points.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies inclined 3.66 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 18.52 billion from Rs 19.36 billion on Monday.
Among the individual companies, 176 were gainers while 74 were recorded as the losers. Himalayan Distillery Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 644.13 million.
Three companies including Muktinath Krishi Company Limited, Trade Tower Limited and Sanvi Energy Limited gained the highest of 10 percent of their market values. Samata Gharelu Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited with a decline of 8.60 percent was registered as the highest loser.
