NHRC launches probe into bodies found in Dhanusha

KATHMANDU, Oct 2: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has started investigation into the discovery of buried bodies in Dhanusha district.

Locals in the district had found over a dozens bodies buried by the local administration in the district. Though the locals accused the government of killing the locals during the protests in Janakpur, District Police Office has said that the bodies belong to those found abandoned in different parts of the district over the past 20 days.

The Office has said that the postmortem reports on the bodies and on-site statements of the witnesses are already with the DPO.

Issuing a press statement on Friday, NHRC informed that it has deployed a team from its central office in Kathmandu to investigate if those bodies were really unclaimed ones or belonged to dead protestors as alleged by locals.
