KATHMANDU, Nov 28: CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya on Wednesday said apart from his party’s General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa, nobody will be acceptable to his party as the consensus prime minister.

Speaking at a program organized by the Reporters Club Nepal, Baidya argued that even from class and ethnicity perspective, Thapa is the ideal person to lead the consensus government. [break]

He also said talks have already been held with UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai in the direction of making Thapa the new PM.

Baidya said the talks have been positive, so far,  and that his party would also hold talks with Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala, himself a PM hopeful, in that regard.

He made it clear that his party will not accept the government leadership under any other leaders unless the parties agree on the essence of the new constitution.

Blaming the current crisis on the three major political parties, Baidya said its resolution is not possible only from the three parties and added that any agreement reached among the three parties will not be acceptable to his party.
