ILAM, Feb 23: One person died in a road accident at Kanyam, Ward No. 7 of Suryodaya Municipality along the Mechi Highway in Ilam.
According to police, a motorcycle (Province 1–01–018 Pa 1520) traveling from Birtamod, Jhapa toward Ilam collided with a truck (Me 1 Kha 1998) coming from the opposite direction. In the accident, 50-year-old Manoj Chaudhary lost his life. He was riding pillion on the motorcycle driven by 31-year-old Tinku Sahu of Birtamod-5.

Information Officer Laxmi Bhandari of the District Police Office said Chaudhary died after being crushed by the rear wheel of the truck.
The injured motorcyclist, Sahu, is receiving treatment at Fikkal Hospital. Meanwhile, the truck driver, 30-year-old Harinarayan Subedi of Hilihang Rural Municipality-7 in Panchthar, has been taken into police custody.
