‘People's rights to get new constitution should be respected’

KATHMANDU, July 4: Discussions regarding the proposal seeking permission to publish the first draft of the constitution in the Nepal gazette to receive people’s feedback regarding this were underway in today's meeting of the Constituent Assembly (CA).

Speaking amid the protest of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP)-N in front of the rostrum, Prabhu Shah of the UCPN (Maoist) suggested to correct the provision mentioned in the draft of giving the authority only to the government for collecting revenue and appointing judges from the judicial council.


Similarly, Janakraj Joshi of the same party suggested not describing the draft as a win and loss of the particular parties as it was the document of consensus.

Likewise, Ram Narayan Bidari of the UCPN (Maoist) said that no one should foil people's right to get new constitution from the CA.

Romi Gauchan and Man Bahadur Bishwokarma of the Nepali Congress suggested to get correct the provision of reappointment of judges and to reconsider the principle of inclusion in the government bodies.

Lawmakers from the RPP-Nepal were chanting slogans demanding the Hindu state in the draft of the new constitution, among other.

Sit-in program of Paswan called-off

Bishwendra Paswan of the Bahujan Shakti Party said he decided to call-off the sit-in programme organised in front of the rostrum for two days.

Likewise, Yubraj Gyawali of the CPN-UML urged to think once again about the provision regarding citizenship, reappointment of judges and parliamentary hearing. RSS
